Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness, partially because this uninterrupted happiness is new to me. These last few weeks I have been trying to master the art of conveying strong messages through simple words. Simple steps. And believe me, it isn’t too complicated. A few years back, I would have said that only a fool will believe it (How our perceptions change). Perhaps happiness is a matter of how we view it and nothing else. Perceptions. Nothing else. Those days I always struggled with happiness. I never understood how others could be happy. So in last few days, I made a list (Seemed like the right thing to do) and this is what I came up with.
Be grateful
Focusing on what we have, rather than what we don’t have, sounds like an over-clichéd advice. Clichés. Common comfortable clichés. You know, there is a reason why they are called clichés. It is something we are familiar with. It is something we know. Be grateful for what you know rather than dwelling on the fact that you don’t know everything. You aren’t Google.
Be aware
Who are you? That’s the first question you have to ask. There aren’t any alternatives to that. Thoughts do influence behaviour. Doubts are fair, considering the time we live in. But always remember this, it’s not the destination but what you become by your journey. What you find in those moments of self-reflection. It’s not that your achievements should only be counted, sometimes your failures teach you more. It is ok to make mistakes. It is ok to fall sometimes. We learn from our mistakes. We learn from our experiences. Your journey is happiness.
Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be – Abraham Lincoln.
Be patient
Our truest passion deserves our relentless patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day and on that same principle, our life doesn’t become the masterpiece we entangle into in one day. Little things. Our life becomes the sum of little things. Life teaches all of us different lessons. Some of us suffer relentlessly. Some of us breathe misery. But even in that despair, we learn the lesson of patience (Considering we survive).
Be generous
Selfish people are miserable. It is as simple as that. Be generous. Be respectful to others. What goes around indeed comes around. All of us are simple ripples on the grand sea of time. Whatever action you take does influence the life of someone else and vice versa. You expect someone to respect you, you have to take the lead.
Simplify
Everything is ephemeral or as the saying goes, “This too shall pass.” Take pleasure in little things. You just do not know when it’ll pass. You can always find order within chaos. There are layers to everything. But that is life. Everything is a sum of certain decisions. Simple words teach us the most profound lessons.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened – Dr. Seuss.
Evolve
Be the change. Be the master of your own faith. Great things won’t happen to you unless you take the action. Life won’t give you all you want in your hand. Go make your life happen. In the end, the only person who should influence your decisions should be you. You aren’t entitled to anything.
Happiness isn’t something ready made. It comes from your own actions – Dalai Lama XIV.

But the fact that it did exist, even if temporarily is something that is self sufficient. No ?

Enjoy little things, didn’t I write it? 🙂

Yes you did 🙂

So, I only wrote what I’ve been doing so far. I could have written hundred other cliched points but that would have false reporting. 🙂

Yes there is no point in saying stuff when you don’t yourself believe in their material significance. “Write what you know”, right ? 🙂

Well I know. The last comment was a joke on the fact that you haven’t written few of my last posts. 😁

Even writing them does that too. I wouldn’t have realised all these small things hadn’t I written them.

Great post!!! Here is a way for the holidays we can simplify and be generous at the same time. I am trying to spread this idea to have a huge impact on others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hidlnk1NC10&t=5s If you like it, please share it! Thanks, Rita
